How To: Download MP3s

Monday, April 6, 2009

Hullo! Today, you will learn where and how to download MP3s for free. Now there is a quite a long list of sites that you can get MP3s from for free. There are some things to keep in mind, when going to these websites.

  1. Make sure the mp3 is completely free.
  2. Make sure the site has no viruses.
  3. Make sure no sign-up is required.
  4. Finally, make sure it's quick and easy to download.

Those four things may help you a lot in your search of an mp3. The first way, that I do not normally use, is 100% virus free, the down side is, you may not find the mp3 you're looking for. For this method, you will JimmyR's mp3 site. Go to Google and search "jimmyr mp3 search", without the quotations. Click the first link, if not click the second link. Type in the name of the song, if necessary type in the artist too. Click the drop-box and make sure mp3 Music is selected. Hit the Super Google Search button. It will open a new window, with the results. You will notice that the sites all have /index in them. This is the root of the website, where all the uploaded files on the site are stored. These sites are all on Google, plus they don't require viewing any suspicous or dangerous ads. But remember, the only con of this method is, that you might not find the mp3 you are looking for. Not all sites have an /index like these ones, because they used a different way of uploading and such. If that method did not satisfy your free mp3 "needs", I should say wants, but oh well. Anyways, if that did not, then the second method is YOUR way to go. The second method may give you viruses and may not. It all depends on the website you are visiting. If there are a lot of pop-ups and ads, close the site immediately.

Let's get on with the second method, shall we? Now, this way works, oh let's say, 85% of the time. Sometimes the mp3 is on the site, but the link is broken. It will not get fixed, so forget about that site. In this method, just make sure there is no sign up required. Even if you have to signup and the downloads are free, no one likes to waste time in signing up for a website. Sign-up ONLY if there is no other website available. The main sites I've got are, mp3fusion.net. That website has a lot of the new mp3s and some old ones. Yourmp3.net, has new ones as well as many old mp3s. Yourmp3.net, sometimes the download links are broken or they just redirect you back to the main site of YourMp3.net. Mp3fusion.net, 90% of the links work, you can count on it. Go ahead. Count. AirMp3.net is not one my favorites, due its fact of having a lot of pop-ups. I have not encountered any viruses from it, yet. It will have many different link texts, of the song you are looking for, but they just lead to the same page. The links do work 95% of the time. Hmmmmm, what else to say about this? It is an ok site, I don't depend on it a lot. Esnips. My, my, my! Could a website be anymore legitimate? This website is so legal, it is unbelievable. The things people will upload to it. If you already know about Esnips, you will know that when you click an mp3 link, it plays in the web browser. You can't download it, or can you? Yes, you can. With a little tool, I like to call, PDF downloader. You will not need to download any software for this. The site to the downloader is http://www.rioleo.org/esnipsdownloader/. Simply put the esnips URL in the text box and hit download, then click, "click to download". It works 100% of the time, I've tested it with mp3s, videos, pictures. It works with everything! Esnips, you can depend on it.

The third method should only be used in case of an emergency, say an mp3 deafening. An mp3 deafening, is when you have not listened to any mp3s within 24 hours, and you are constantly hearing a ringing noise in your ears. The third method, you will have to download sofware. Bittorrent, is an excellent 1st choice for the 3rd method. Bittorrent has given me viruses before, terrible spyware viruses. The other way my brother used to use a long while ago. This software is called Limewire. When it first came out, it was good and easy to use. Now, when you search something in Limewire, you can't really identify what you should download. It's ok, I only used it once, when I was downloading a movie. When I actually downloaded it, it wasn't a movie, it was trojan in disguise. It unpacked itself into my PC, it crashed my PC. I hate Limewire, but remember this is the 3rd method! I hate the 3rd method myself.

The 4th method is not long. This is the easiest way. Why isn't it on the 2nd method, or 1st method you ask? Well, this way costs money. REAL money, no Monopoly here. Yes, I mean downloading iTunes or Napster, Real Player, anything. All of these source require to sign up AND buy the mp3. A popular song can cost anywhere from 80 cents to a dollar. I've never bought any mp3s from iTunes, but I have installed it and seen the interface. It is good, if you're willing to pay the price. iTunes is legit and 100% virus free, all links work. iTunes is also offering TV Show and movies for download. I do not recommend buying shows and movies from iTunes as the price is terrible. if you want shows and movies at a cheap rate, go to Netflix. Netflix is 9.99$ a month. Real Player and Napster look almost exactly the same. Correct me if they are the same thing. And that ends the horrible 4th method.

I hope this guide has helped you achieving your goal of listening to an mp3. Suggestions and comments are very welcome, feel free to post. Thanks for reading and don't forget to subscribe.
